My employer is racist

My employer, a woman 60 years old and her nephew had their usual racist discussion today in front of me. The nephew said they should drop a bomb on Hebrews. Her aunt is of the same opinion but did not go so far as saying they should drop a bomb on them. I was horrified. Guess what I did and keep in mind that I work for these people:
1) didn't say anything and completely ignored what they were saying
2) got angry and shouted at them
3) gave a lesson about humane values
4) quit the job

I am Italian and today I had another evidence of racism in my country. The nephew has a university degree in law and his family is billionaire. In my next post I will tell how I felt after.

A better moment today has been when I went feeding Lotti, a cat living all alone for a week. I was emotioned at the thought that she was going to jump all over me, happy to receive some food and caresses. I went there during my working hours. If that cat could simbolically represent all humans hit by racism in any form, may my gesture send a light of hope.

  1. Hi Davide,

I'm so happy Lotti gave you a glimpse of happiness on this truly depressing day. There can't be anything worse than to work your butt off for people who are this ignorant and stupid. Their racist comments in front of their staff are unacceptable! Instead of hating these racists I try to only feel sorry for them. It must be sad to live your life with so much hatred like your employers do. Hatred towards people they don't even know, like the nephew saying Jews deserve having a bomb dropped on them. This extreme ignorance proves that they are living a sad existence. I pity them. And their children.

    Ciao

  2. Thank you Shark for the first comment on the blog. I think you are right about the sad existence ignorant people live. I've heard saying that ignorant people are happier because they don't know anything...
